Advancing Financial Security: Exploring Quantum-Ready Communications

ADGM Academy recently hosted an interactive Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) workshop, bringing together senior technology and information security professionals from leading financial institutions across the UAE. Delivered in collaboration with the UAE Banks Federation (UBF), the session welcomed participants from organisations including FAB, Mashreq, RAKBANK, Zand Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank, Commercial Bank of Dubai, Emirates Development Bank, and HSBC.
Led by James Grieve from the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), and supported by partners ADGM, TII, ASPIRE, and Hub71, the workshop explored the emerging role of quantum-secure communications in strengthening the resilience of financial services infrastructure. The session provided a practical platform for industry leaders to engage with the implications of quantum technologies and their potential impact on cybersecurity and data protection frameworks.
Through expert-led discussion and cross-sector dialogue, participants examined how QKD can support the evolution of secure communications, addressing future risks posed by quantum computing to traditional cryptographic systems. The session also highlighted the importance of early engagement and collaboration across industry and government to enable effective adoption of next-generation security solutions.
This workshop marks an important step in advancing awareness and readiness for quantum-secure technologies within the UAE’s financial sector, reinforcing ADGM Academy’s role as a convening platform for knowledge exchange and innovation-led dialogue.
